Ideas for Web Design Project

Title: How to...

1. How to Get Out of the "Friend Zone"

Many men have fallen victim to the term "Friend Zone" - i.e fallen into the "friend" category (as opposed to boyfriend) - and as a result die lonely miss out on relationships they could have had. It's a common misconception that once you are friend zoned, you are stuck there forever. This is not true, it's possible to break out, but you need help. My idea is to make a website that tells you how to escape the friend zone.
  • WHO AM I: Just a bro who's been there before
  • What is the friend zone and how do you know if you're in it?
  • How do you avoid the friend zone?
  • Friend zoned? Get me out of here!
    • Change something about yourself
    • Break the "nice guy" stereotype
    • Flirt
    • Break the touch barrier
    • Use your friends
    • Encourage dating behaviour
    • Be bold: Make a move!

2.  How to tell epic stories (the art of BS*-ing)
  • About: You can wiggle your way out of many uncomfortable/dangerous situations just by being a skillful story spinner (or BS-er) This website will help you be prepared for any type of situation/story.
  • Build your prerequisites:
    • Have a character
    • Pick an animal
    • Pick a fruit
  • Be believable: the biggest lies are full of truths
    • Be a better liar
    • Be a truth teller
  • Connect the dots.

3. How to lose weight

About: Many people have weight problems
  • Who am I?: A person who does not have weight problems
  • Cut the problem out from the source
  • Recognize that  you don't need food; Food needs YOU
  • Redirect your attention - away from food
  • SAFETY:
    • Stop yourself from spinning into anorexia
    • Stop yourself from going crazy
    • Stop yourself from eating your cat/dog

Some Beautiful Websites

I love this website, not just because they organize a wicked music festival, but the design is beautiful too.

  • The background graphic is very nice.
  • I like the colour combination. It's just a simple 3-4 colour palette but it is used very effectively and maintains good contrast throughout.
  • The layout is very neat and balanced.
  • The typography is good. The fonts are interesting and readable and the hierarchy is good, clearly indicating which is the headline, sub-head, and body text.

Rocket Jump is home to several filmmakers and their new combined project: Video Game High School - VGHS

  • The background design is nice and interesting. The textures give a nice effect and together with the colour combinations, they really suit the feel of a private high school of their current major project - Video Game High School.
  • This website also uses few colours in an effective way. This website has even less colours - just 3 for the background and logo.
  • The layout is very neat and ordered.

Dean Oakley is a web designer and developer. This is his interesting portfolio.

  • The background graphic is very nice and cute.
  • It indicates where to move in this horizontal-scrolling website.
  • The horizontal-scrolling is uncommon and interesting, making his website stand out more.
Hull Digital Live is a digital and technology conference in Hull, UK.

  •  The home screen graphic is interesting and eye-catching. The website has good art direction.
  • The colour palette is nice, also using few colours and giving enough contrast to be readable.
  • The typography is good. The text is easy to read and the website has good hierarchy.

Infographic

Choosing your first guitar is not easy. There are so many features and options to consider and many people don't even know what they are or what difference it makes. Hence, I made this infographic comparing a few guitar models from three of the biggest guitar companies in the world. I packed in as much information as I could describing the different parts of the guitar and the result it has on the sound and tone of the guitar, as well as ease of playing.
Knowing what your favourite guitarists use helps give you an idea of what the guitar can sound like and assures you of the quality of the instrument so I added vector pictures of famous artists under the brand of guitar of their choice.
This infographic was done in a four-colour scheme (excluding the canvas colour - in this case, white). The graphics are 100% free-hand/hand-traced vector images made in Adobe Illustrator.
I hope this project helps you understand guitars better or just gives you an idea for infographic design :) Cheers
